# uGit

> uGit is a free, local-first desktop Git client for macOS and Windows. It runs the system `git` binary instead of its own Git implementation, so its results always match the command line, and it draws the commit graph on a Canvas worker so scrolling stays smooth regardless of commit count. No account or login is required.

- Platforms: macOS 13+ (universal: Apple Silicon and Intel, Developer ID signed and Apple notarized); Windows 10+ (x64 and arm64, NSIS installer, not yet code-signed so SmartScreen shows a warning on first install). Linux is not supported.
- Requirement: system git 2.38 or newer on PATH (or a path set in settings).
- Price: free. No login, no seat licensing. Hosting integrations, AI features and telemetry are opt-in.
- UI languages: Korean, English, Japanese.
- Performance: on a repository of about 1.3 million commits, fewer than 1% of frames exceed 16 ms while scrolling.
- Updates: built-in automatic updates (differential downloads).

- Line-level staging, inline and split diffs, image diffs, blame heatmap, built-in terminal, command palette, Git command timeline with "explain this command"
- Plugins v1 (declarative panels in an isolated process, disabled by default)
